Hyderabad, Telangana:The call for justice from sports students is growing louder as the Sports Students Federation intensified its demand to increase the number of PET (Physical Education Teacher) posts in the upcoming DSC recruitment.

Currently, while Telangana has over 1,600 vacant PET posts, the government has announced recruitment for only 182 positions. This massive gap has left thousands of unemployed sports graduates in despair, forcing them to take to the streets in protest.

SSF State President Chaganti Rajesh and State Working President Bagam Rajesh Maddu led the demonstrations, stressing that every school across Telangana must have qualified PETs to nurture discipline, health, and sports culture. The federation argued that limiting recruitment to 182 posts is a grave injustice and undermines the sacrifices made by sports students who have dedicated their lives to athletics and education.

At the Nirahara Deeksha (indefinite hunger strike), sports students were joined by leaders and supporters, highlighting the urgency of the issue. They warned that unless the government addresses the shortage by filling all 1,600 vacant posts, the future of sports in Telangana will remain at risk.

Federation leaders also pointed out that while the government promises to strengthen sports policies, it fails to implement them at the grassroots level by neglecting PET recruitment. This neglect not only impacts unemployed graduates but also denies lakhs of school children access to proper sports training.

The Sports Students Federation vowed to continue its struggle, mobilizing support from across the state until the government takes serious action and fills all vacant posts in the upcoming DSC.
