The voices of sports students once again echoed strongly as they staged an indefinite protest in front of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), demanding the recruitment of vacant Physical Education posts.

Led by the Sports Students Federation, the protesters highlighted that despite the growing number of qualified candidates, the state government has failed to fill long-pending vacancies for PETs (Physical Education Teachers) and PDs (Physical Directors).

Students accused the government of neglect, stating that over 182 posts remain vacant in Sri Venkateswara University alone, while nearly 1,600 vacancies exist across Andhra Pradesh. They demanded immediate action to recruit PETs and PDs in schools, colleges, and universities to ensure sports education is given its rightful place in the state’s education system.

The protest included a “Deeksha” (indefinite fast), symbolizing the frustration and determination of sports students who have been waiting for years for opportunities. Protesters emphasized that this is not just a demand for jobs but a struggle for dignity, recognition, and the future of sports.

The Sports Students Federation reaffirmed its commitment to fight until every vacant post is filled and every athlete’s voice is heard.
